webmasters need. |
The CGI
Resource Index |
This spin-off
venture from Matt's Script Archive (above) holds reviews of several thousand
CGI scripts in hundreds of categories - anything from freeware offerings
through to full-blown commercial applications and freelance CGI programmers.
If you need a special script or some ad-hoc programming talent for your web
site, this is one of the very best places on the Net to start looking. |
JavaScript For
The Total
Non-Programmer |
This site
is part of the much larger WebTeacher.Com site, and offers a complete tutorial
on JavaScript for people with nil or very limited exposure to programming.
If you're completely new to JavaScript or would like to increase your knowledge,
this excellent, easy-to-read tutorial is a great place to start (NB:
This site also has a CGI tutorial) |
| Autoscripter |
This great
site offers hundreds of pre-built JavaScripts and DHTML scripts you can add
to your pages, along with a few Perl Scripts and some CSS (Cascading Style
Sheets) too! Author John Keyes has put a lot of effort into this site and
- by golly - it certainly shows. You can easily spend quite a lot of time
here. Well worth a visit. |
The JavaScript
Source |
This site
(now part of Internet.Com) offers hundreds of free cut-and-paste JavaScripts
along with JavaScript tutorials, books, a message forum and a regular email
newsletter. Both serious coders and enthusiastic novices can find something
of value here. |
| JavaScript City |
Another useful
site that also offers hundreds of free cut-and-paste JavaScripts, JavaScript
tutorials, books and a message forum. This site also has links to many other
web resources in areas outside JavaScript. A useful resource! |
| JavaScript Guide |
Netscape's
official guide to JavaScript covers everything right up to the current 1.2
release in 12 chapters and 3 appendices, all available online.
Netscape invented JavaScript and still guide its ongoing
development, so there's really no higher source of knowledge about the language.
|
| JavaScript World |
Netpedia's
JavaScript World is another excellent source of JavaScripts, technical backup,
forums, opinions, advice and books - and also has an expanding section devoted
to DHTML. Much bigger than it first looks and worthwhile exploring.

JavaScript Tip
Of The Week |
This site
was one of the pioneering JavaScript sites and remains a great place to visit,
even though it's no longer being updated. It contains over 30 cut-and-paste
Javascripts and some very useful tips. |
| Dynamic Drive |
Dynamic Drive
is a marvellous source of pre-tested, reliable JavaScripts and DHTML scripts
- all tested for functionality under NS4, NS6 and IE. It also has lots of
tips, tricks and expert advice too - including what causes JavaScript conflicts
when you run multiple scripts on a single page and how you can circumvent
the problem. |
