Relive "The Crime Of The Century"
At Home With The Kids
Tonight!
Back in February 1998 the world gasped
in astonishment when Microsoft chairman Bill Gates fell victim to
a surprise custard pie attack by notorious Belgian anarchist Noel
Godin.
What could have provoked such an
unwarranted assault on the planet's best-loved billionaire? Although a straw
poll of our office quickly came up with anywhere from 98 to 2000 possible
reasons, the truth is we may never know for sure.....
But now - through the wonders of the
Internet and modern programming - you can enter the mind of
the mad pieman and experience the same unusual custard pie thrills - free!
How? With the amazing
"Pie Bill Gates Game" (version 1.59) created
by "The Imposter".
This 550K freeware program -
which runs on Windows 3.x and Windows 95 machines (sorry, Mac pie fanciers!)
- lets you stand in Noel Godin's shoes and see the crime from his perspective.
You have 30 seconds - no more, no less - to see how many times you can
give Bill a pie!
While it certainly doesn't make the
assault he perpetrated on the warm, cuddly, kindly, humorous and just downright
lovable Mr Gates any less inexcusable, it does allow us to
gain some insight into the dark forces that drive Mr Godin from one
Belgian pie shop to the next.
We're making this game available on
our site as a public service to assist criminologists, sociologists,
psychologists and anyone else who has an interest in what some people are
now calling "The Crime Of The Century" to help further human knowledge.
Better understanding of crime, after
all, leads to better methods of prevention and rehabilitation.
